This week we have been reading and discussing how authors can can make readers feel an emotion, temperature, taste, etc. by writing carefully chosen words. We read a few texts together (stories and poems) and created lists of feelings and the word or words that helped us feel that feeling. This is another strategy readers use to help them understand what is occurring in the text and to help them remember what they have read. While reading with your child if you experience a feeling share it with them! Or, ask them if they felt anything while reading together. They are doing an amazing job identifying when they feel something as a reader and sharing what part of the text led them to the feeling. In the above pictures you can see the dissection of a few poems we did together!
